The ECVO - HED Committee certifies that the course complies as follows with the ECVO requirements for training and examination of Eye Scheme Examiner candidates as described in the ECVO Eye Scheme (chapter 3).

OBJECTIVES
This modular course aims to provide the participant with the most recent knowledge and updates about the recognition and diagnosis of hereditary or presumed hereditary eye diseases (HED) in purebred dogs and cats.
Through slides, questions, articles, clinical cases over 4 meetings, the necessary foundations will be provided to refine one's preparation and face the current exam tests.

The itinerary is aimed at two types of candidates:
- First-level candidate:

the candidate must already possess basic ophthalmological knowledge obtained by obtaining the GP Ophtal title (the title must already be duly obtained at the time of enrollment in the course) or have obtained qualifications in similar national courses or foreign (CES -TOULOUSE; EPU - MAISONS ALFORT; GPCert obtained outside Italy; EAVS DIPLOMA; ACVO BASIC SCIENCE COURSE). He must also be equipped with the specialist tools necessary to carry out a complete eye examination.

- Second level candidate:

those who had already obtained the official national FSA certifications for the release of the exemption from hereditary eye diseases and who intend to achieve the specific international qualification (ESE). In addition, those who are already involved in the FSA National panel exam, having already passed 1 or more tests of the aforementioned exam and who subsequently want to pass through the ESE panel.

STUDY PATH
For the first level candidate:

Mandatory attendance in all the modules of the course
Collection of 500 cases (dogs) and 100 cases (cats) through a personal path organized by the candidate with an ECVO Diplomate supervisor or ESE reader
Study and carefully follow the instructions given in Chapter 3 of the ECVO manual: https://www.ecvo.eu/hereditary-eye-diseases/ecvo-manual.html
At the end of all these activities, the first level candidate will be able to access the ESE exam which will be organized in the future under the auspices of ECVO

The course is therefore considered preparatory and strongly recommended, but not mandatory, to continue the international ESE path.

For the second level candidate:
The course is mandatory for all those wishing to pass through the ESE panel. Therefore, for second-level candidates who wish to express this desire, the following is required:

Mandatory attendance in all the modules of the course
Proof of having performed 100 certificates per year for 3 years or 300 certificates in 3 years
Proof of having examined 100 dogs under the supervision of an ECVO Diplomate or an ESE reader and having carried out the corresponding certifications at the same time
Proof of having accurately compiled (proof of this through the evaluation of certifications may be required) the "qualitative list" of diagnosed hereditary eye diseases reported in "Appendix A" of Chapter 3 of the ECVO Manual (page 11).

REGISTRATION
During the enrollment phase, which will take place according to the usual procedures, all candidates will be required to self-certify/upload the possession of at least one of the above qualifications.
